Twelve commercial workbooks for UK subcontractors. Set up once, used every month, so it never gets as far as a dispute.
Who built these
Over 20 years as a QS, the last 8 to 10 focused on subcontractors turning over £500k to £10m a year.
The same story on repeat: main contractors using poor paperwork as leverage. Money held back, final accounts screwed down, extra work done for free. Over the years, £millions left on the table.
Pensum exists to stop that. It's Latin for "a day's work, weighed out". The work gets weighed, a bit like fish coming in from the sea. The weight gets recorded, and that number gets paid. Because it's documented, it's hard to argue.
That's the job these templates do for you - the writing-down bit that never happens when you're flat out on site.

Statutory interest runs at the Bank of England base rate plus 8% and applies automatically, whether or not it is written into your contract. Most subcontractors never claim it, and never claim the fixed compensation either.
Bank Rate 3.75%, checked 30 Jul 2026The rate is locked to the base rate in force when the debt fell late, so a long-overdue invoice spanning a base rate change is worked out in parts. This tool applies one rate across the whole period. Indicative only, not advice.
Free, and it is the sample of how the other eleven are built.
